You know how to drive a car. But do you know how to drive a performance car? Ford wants to ensure that you do, and that’s why it’s offering complimentary driving instruction to owners of the new 2013-2014 Ford Focus ST and 2014 Ford Fiesta ST through the Octane Academy Driving Experience!
The driving program was inspired by “Octane Academy,” the competition TV series with pro drivers like Ken Block and Tanner Foust. On the show, amateur drivers compete for an opportunity to launch their own racing careers, with the pros putting them through the paces to determine a winner.
With the Octane Academy Driving Experience, ST owners will gain firsthand knowledge of the capabilities of their cars – and what they themselves can do as drivers. It involves classroom instruction as well as intense driving instruction on karting and autocross courses at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The experience will focus on control, cornering, braking and dynamic techniques, as well as lead and follow exercises, instructor ridealongs and hot laps. The cars ST owners drive will be provided by Miller Motorsports Park and have been modified with full safety equipment.
Owners are responsible for travel and hotel costs, but Ford will cover the costs of the ST Driving Experience. There’s also an optional day of instruction available in a Mustang GT on the track or off road driving in a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Mustang and Raptor programs would be paid for by participants.
